World Cup

One of the beautiful things about a sport that is (as far as we know) only played in one place in the world is that we can authentically stage an annual world cup competition.

The date for this year's Netrugby World Cup is 25th July 2009 at 12:30pm and it takes place on Clapham Common. The event is a 'round-robin' where all teams play each other, followed by two semi-finals and a final to decide the winner. Games are seven minutes each way and teams are made up of seven players, instead of the normal (league) number of ten. A maximum squad size of 10 is permitted.

Even if you don't play in the main-season league, do get in touch if you'd like to enter a team - it's an easy game to pick up and the more the merrier.

As an extra incentive, this year there will be cash prizes:

£300 for the winners
£200 for the runners up

As ever there will be BBQ's, picnics and beers for all, in addition to displays of one of the UK's most exciting sports. 12;30 meet for 12:45pm kick off.

If you would like to play or enter a team email Liam Walker - liamwalker_7@hotmail.com.
