Thanks for stopping by!
Welcome to the online home of the netrugby league, a unique and exciting sport played every summer on South London's Clapham Common for over a hundred years.
Legend has it that our sport , orginally called rugby netball, was founded in the late 1800s as a way to keep troops - stationed on the common after returning from the Boer war - out of the local public houses. In its 1920s heyday dozens of teams played in several leagues and, even as recently as the 1990s, top-class players from England rugby's 1st division regularly turned out to play.
Today, netrugby is staging a comeback, with a growing number of teams competing in a summer league and an annual world cup competition. Players are attracted by the simplicity of a game that combines the contact and camaraderie of rugby with the fast pace and freedom of football.
Being able to pass in any direction and no offside laws encourage fast movement of the ball around the pitch, but full contact tackling around the net can make goals hard to come by against a well organised defence. Please vist the rules page to learn more about how the game is played.
Location & Timings
